Brisbane Comedy Festival

One of Brisbane’s longest running festivals, BCF needed a little bit of a digital facelift for 2024. Our brief was to retain the classic Brisbane Comedy Festival brand but modernise the website, making sure to keep the laughs rolling with over 120 separate shows with multiple performances.

Showcasing all the events

With 120 separate event pages and cards, each with multiple performances, our philosophy for BCF was to order the information with beautiful, logical simplicity and a high powered filter and search functionality.

We left the funny business to the comics, but included playful animations to keep interactions interesting but not distracting. We utilised off-kilter shapes, layering and textures to frame the content and keep things lively but clean – all while being completely CMS controllable.

Colour & texture

We used a comic book style dot matrix background throughout the website. Pair this with the funky and vibrant colour scheme and you have a recipe for good vibes.

Working with the team at Flip was a dream. The projects we briefed them on were complicated, with many moving parts, and required creative flair to be used while adhering to our unique brands.

Flip undertook each project with enthusiasm and care – they understood user journeys and foresaw issues before they happened, adding in details that we would never think to ask for.

The result were MASSIVE projects delivered better than we could have expected: the development of the new Brisbane Powerhouse website with an integrated scheduling system, a technical and aesthetic facelift of the Brisbane Comedy Festival, the creation of the Vertigo website that garnered international attention, and the creation of the Melt website that perfectly merged playful with nostalgia, elevating the brand to what it could be.

Through each project the team remained cheerful, eager and a joy to work with. Nothing was too hard, or impossible.
