Architecture informed design

Known as the home of Queensland Ballet, the Thomas Dixon Centre is much much more. A building of history and unique innovations, the TDC is a curator of and collaborator with some of Queensland and Australia’s premier performing artists.

Our challenge was to create a new website for the TDC that championed this collaboration and curation – without diluting the essence of the space and the Thomas Dixon Centre brand.

A website page displayed on a laptop screen shows two ballet dancers performing against a starry backdrop. The text reads "Thomas Dixon Centre," "Soirée," "Ballet," and "December 5-7." A "Buy tickets" button is visible.

Class & Style

Having designed and developed the first Thomas Dixon Centre website half a decade ago, we understood the many challenges of an event space that requires its own identity while catering to and facilitating the events and brands of others.

Taking design cues from the shapes and textures of the building itself, we set to designing an experience of beautiful simplicity.

A laptop displays two sections: a ballerina adjusting her hair and a vintage photo of a group outside a building, labeled "Support us" and "Our story." A phone shows "Upcoming events" with a ballet event titled "The Ballet Boys Project.

Elegance meets performance

An elegant balance between modernity and tradition, each element of the design is carefully considered to ensure performances, events and the community take centre stage.

On the technology side, the website integrates seamlessly with TDC’s ticketing and CRM system, making sure that users have the same fantastic experience throughout their entire journey.

A September 2024 calendar is on the left, with September 18th highlighted. On the right, a ticket pricing list shows Admission for $20, Concession for $17.50, QB Member for $15, and Child for $10. There's a "Buy tickets now" button and a note about a $5.00 transaction fee.
